Taking things for granted

There’s so many things that we take for granted, our bed, the blue sky, food on the plate, friends etc… What if we didn’t have them, we would pay millions of dollars to experience them again but the irony is that we ignore them when we have them. John Piper in his book “Don’t waste your life” starts talking about Clive Staples Lewis better known by his initials CS. Piper says that CS Lewis put his soul on notice that there are daily wonders that will waken worship if he just opened his eyes. “He shook my dozing soul and threw cold water of reality in my face, so that life and God and heaven and hell broke into my world with glory and horror”.

“You can’t go on ‘seeing through’ things forever. The whole point of seeing through something is to see something through it. It is good that the window should be transparent, because the street or garden beyond is opaque. How if you saw through the garden too? It is no use trying to ‘see through’ first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To ‘see through’ all things is the same as not to see”. CS Lewis
