Back in the day my youth group boys came up with an acronym GGNW.  We used to say it to each other to remind us of this calling. GGNW= Glorify God, Nice Work!

Glorifying God. What does this actually mean? Well reading John Piper’s book – Don’t waste your life, he puts it like this.
“God cannot be made more glorious or beautiful than he is. He cannot be improved, “nor is he served by human hands, as though he needs anything” (Acts 17:25). Glorify does not mean add more glory to God. It is more like the word magnify.”
John says there are 2 meanings of the word magnify in relation to God.

Wickedness = microscope – You’re making something tiny look bigger than it is. You can make a dust mite look like a monster.

Worship = telescope – You make something unimaginably great look like what it really is. Pin prick galaxies in the sky are revealed for billion-star giants they are.

God created us to glorify Him. To live our lives in a way that makes him look more like the greatness and the beauty and the infinite worth that he really is.
